In the Event of an Auto Accident turn on your hazard lights and if possible set up traffic cones, triangles, or flares to alert other cars of the incident and to avoid another accident. If you have written relevant medical information for you and others who may have been in the vehicle with you, it would be useful to keep handy
Remain calm. Check for injuries; call an ambulance when in doubt. If accident is minor, move cars to a safe place, out of traffic. Turn on your vehicle’s hazard lights. Even if it is a samll or minor accident, call the police immediately. Also ensure that you inform your State Farm insurance agent immediately.
Do not tell anyone the accident was your fault, but remain calm and polite. Do not agree to any faults and sign documents ONLY for the police or your insurance agent. Only discuss details of the incident with the police and your agent, ensuring you do not fabricate any information. Take down notes of any specific damage to the vehicles immediately as well as information of the cars, witnesses and others who may have been involved. Stay on the scene of the collision until police arrive and leave only when instructed to.
